Story

Captain Ildarik of the Dragon Guard is sent to the Dark Forest by the "Young Nobles" faction of the Elvish court in Caledor that wishes to forge a closer bond to the Empire of Man; The reports of the search for the Nemesis Crown is a perfect opportunity to provide a significant favor - and yanking the stuffy dwarves by the beard is an added bonus.

Soon after arriving, Ildarik's scouts brings him reports of a Dwarven warband that is snuffling around in the area, and he meets them on the field of battle, near a ruined tower that was once an evil Wizards tower.

Battle report

On the right flank, Dwarven slayers supported by a cannon advance on Seaguard supported by a bolt thrower; The slayers are all killed before they reach charge range, and the cannon manages just two good shots in the entire game, killing 3 seaguard in total.

On the left flank, dwarven quarrelers attempt a flanking move around a ruined castle, through a small village, but the difficult terrain means that they don't reach firing range until the game is over.

In the center, two units of dwarven heavy infantry advance on the double, under fire from two units of archers and a unit of seaguard. Amael keeps trying to cast Curse of Arrow Attraction on any unit in range, but keeps failing - either frying her own mind, or being effortlessly dispelled by the natural dwarven resiliency to magic.  No spell is successfully cast in the entire game :-(

The first unit that reach charge range (at 1/3 strength!) is countercharged by seaguard and silver helms together, breaks and is run down.

The seaguard follow up with a charge against the other unit, while the silver helms continue forward, overruninng a flame cannon that had just trundled into range.  The second dwarf infantry stand its ground for a round, but is broken and overrun in the following round.  Only the cannon and the wayward quarrelers remain at game end.
