The Wych Succubus took a deep breath, huddling in a ruined Imperial chapel, The tongue-lashing they had recieved from their Archon when they had rendezvoused with their ship had been devastating - but it would be no match for the real lashing they would receive if they failed to bring home a live Tyranid for his Arena, to compensate for the loss of the captured Mon'Keigh in the compound. Any moment now, the Tyranids would break from the woods, and then she would exact her revenge.

The Hunters Hunted

With the war starting to heat up in the Hiruscant sector, the Wych Cult of Hunters thought it an opportune time to strike and secure some slaves for the greater glory of their mistress.  The slave-gathering in the secluded backwaters went uneventfully; There was only little sport in the hunt and capture.

Strongpoint Attack

The small Dark Eldar force guarding the slave compound was surprised and overwhelmed by the sudden appearance of several Tyranid Monstrous creatures, just as their mission was complete and they were waiting for their ride home.

The perimeter guard was literally steamrollered flat, and failed to sound the alarm.  The following turn saw the wave of Tyranids crash upon the slumbering wyches, who sprang to action with inhuman speed and grace.  It availed them little; The force was ripped to pieces before any reinforcements arrived.

Seek And Destroy

The Wych Cult leaders, upon arriving on the scene of the carnage, decided that a just atonement for the fiasco would be to send the cult off to capture live Tyranid specimens for battle in the arena.

The trail of the Tyranids was easily followed, and the Dark Eldar formed a line in front of them, ready to take them on in a stand-up fight.

As it happened, the only weapons capable of actually damaging the Carnifexes was the Warriors Darklances, and on the left front the warrior squads were slowly winkled out by the combined fire of the Juggernaut's Barbed Strangler and the Tyranid Warrior's Venom Cannon.  The barrage of venom crystals was only interrupted when the Jetbikes sped in front of their sights - five bikes crashed in flames, and he last was assaulted and eaten by the Rippers the squadron was chasing.

On the right front, the Hellions and a Wych cult charged the Hive Tyrant but singularly failed to make an impression.  When its companion Genestealers joined the melee, it was quickly over - the Wyches were pulped and eaten, and the few surviving Hellions broke and sped away.

A squad of Splinter Cannon-wielding Scourges had taken up positions on top of the village houses, and were taking potshots at the smaller Tyranids - knowing that their weapons would make little impression on the Hive Tyrant.  After the melee was won, the Tyrant moved forward, blasting the Scourges with Venom Cannon and Devourer fire, which quickly decimated the squad - the last remaining Scourge decided that he would rather fight another day and fled the board.

In the center, the Bladesfex advanced inexorably, taking several Darklance hits but proceeding, bleeding but undaunted. Once in range, it was charged by two Wych cults, who quickly learned to their dismay that the only weapons they had that could actually hit the monster were the Succubi's poisoned blades. The Wyches fought bravely nonetheless, slowly taking losses whenever one of their number failed to jump out of the way of the scything blades of the Carnifex.  Eventually, they too broke and ran.

Running as fast as she could, the Wych Succubus wheezed in dismay - this was not how it was supposed to be. They were the Hunter Cult! No mere beast was their match!  She woved to return, soon, with bigger guns, and then let no creature stand between her and her rightful prey.
